Struggling to check your blind spot, or dreading another day hunched over a laptop with a sore neck? Neck pain physiotherapy in Bayswater sorts out the actual cause rather than just easing the sore spot for a day or two. At Back to Ease Physiotherapy, we provide physiotherapy in Bayswater for postural strain, whiplash, pinched nerves and tension headaches, with hands-on treatment and a plan built around your neck, not a printed handout everyone gets.
We treat neck pain most days of the week across our Bayswater and Doveton clinics. Some patients are desk workers whose shoulders never seem to drop. Others are still feeling the effects of a car accident from months back. No GP referral is needed here, you can book straight in as a private patient and we’ll get moving on what’s actually driving your pain from that first visit.
Sam puts it simply: a stiff neck rarely comes out of nowhere. It usually builds slowly, through posture, stress or just not moving enough, and once the real driver is found, it tends to respond well to hands-on treatment.
“Sick of turning your whole body just to reverse the car?”
Find Out What’s Really Going On
Neck pain physiotherapy is about restoring movement and easing pain in the neck, upper back and shoulders. Sometimes that pain has come on suddenly, sometimes it’s been building for months without a clear starting point. Either way, it isn’t solved with a heat pack and a hopeful stretch. There’s an assessment involved, hands-on treatment, and exercises aimed at your day to day life, not a textbook case.
Most of the people who walk through our door aren’t athletes and haven’t had an accident. They sit at a desk all day. They’ve slept on the wrong pillow one too many times. Some carry stress in their shoulders without even noticing it until the ache shows up.
We look past the sore spot itself and try to work out what’s driving it, whether that’s a workstation set up wrong, a sleep position that’s been causing trouble for years, or an old injury that never quite settled. Treating only where it hurts is a big reason neck pain keeps coming back for so many people.
Our physiotherapists in Bayswater and Doveton help people recover from a wide range of everyday and sporting injuries. These are the areas we’re asked about most.
You don’t need to wait until you can barely move before booking in. Worth getting checked if you’re noticing:
Saurabh Patel (Sam) sees this a lot: people ignoring neck pain until it starts affecting their sleep or their job, when getting in early almost always means a faster, more complete recovery.
“Your neck didn’t stiffen up overnight, and it won’t loosen up on its own either.”
Start Your Recovery Plan

Before anything else, we look at how your neck, shoulders and upper back are actually moving. Not just where it hurts, but what's happening around it.

This might mean joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, or dry needling for muscles that have been guarding for too long. What we use depends on what we find.

This is the part that actually makes the improvement stick. Specific exercises to rebuild strength and control, plus real changes to your desk setup or the pillow you've been sleeping on.

Before you're finished with us, you'll have a clear idea of how to keep your neck moving well, so this doesn't turn into a repeat visit in six months.

Start Your Recovery Plan
Your first visit is mostly about understanding what’s going on and what you’re hoping to get back to. We’ll talk through how the pain started, check your movement, and explain things in plain language rather than physio jargon you’ll forget by the car park. Most people start hands-on treatment in that same session, and leave with a fair idea of what recovery looks like from here.
Sam finds patients often brace themselves for bad news. Most of the time it’s just a stiff, overworked neck that needs the right treatment and a bit of patience, nothing more sinister than that.
We see patients from right across Bayswater and the wider City of Knox, including Boronia, Wantirna and Ferntree Gully, many after living with a stiff or sore neck for months and hoping it would settle on its own. Check our locations to find the clinic closest to you. It rarely settles on its own. What people tend to mention isn’t some fancy technique, it’s finally having someone explain what’s actually going on and give them a plan they can trust.
Plenty of neck pain we see doesn’t turn up on its own either. Weekend footy or a heavy gym session often brings on the same kind of strain we treat through sports physiotherapy, and for people already managing a cranky lower back, the neck tends to follow not far behind, which is where our work on low back pain often crosses over.
Worth getting checked even after a low-speed bump. Most whiplash recovers well with early, guided movement and hands-on treatment. Waiting too long is usually what lets the stiffness settle in properly.
More often than people expect. Tight muscles and stiff joints at the top of the neck are a common trigger for both tension headaches and cervicogenic headaches, and treating the neck can cut down how often they show up.
Usually not. Most neck pain doesn’t need imaging, and scans often pick up normal, age-related changes that have nothing to do with your actual pain. If a scan is genuinely needed, we’ll explain why and help you sort it.
Depends on how long you’ve had it and what’s behind it. Plenty of people notice a real change within a few sessions. You’ll get an honest estimate after your first assessment rather than a number pulled out of thin air.
